How to Win and be a Top Player
Warcodes is a creature battle KOTH (King of the Hill) type game. During the beginning it will feel very satisfying and somewhat easy but once you're an experienced player, the game will have you face off against the best of the best.
The top players are people who equip the correct items to each creature based on stats and purpose. This article aims to teach you how to play against the most heavily equipped creatures.

When you reach the 7 Hill lobby you’ll find most creatures on each Location will have either high Health or multiple attack dice or both. Countering these creatures can feel impossible sometimes, especially if your opponent has spent real money on items from the marketplace for all of their creatures. But don’t worry, you don’t need to match their bank account to get a few wins or be a top player. We do suggest increasing your collection size, this is the best way to stay in the fight when you can’t equip a lot of items.
If you’re trying to put yourself above the rest you’ll want to release and spawn a lot of creatures. This can be a hard thing to do when you’ve just spawned that perfect creature with all the right looks but it is necessary to increase your win rate.
This may sound funny but you’ll also need to spend a lot of hours on the game. The KOTH on each Location changes very quickly because there are a lot of players who check the app at least once per hour and sometimes it will feel like your opponent hasn’t looked away from their screen for the entire day. Others wake up and begin their battling as soon as the lobby opens, putting them way ahead on the leaderboard. Enough that they don’t need to check the app or battle for a couple of hours into the day.
Really, in our opinion there is no real way to become a top player because Warcodes is a very fair game in all aspects. The main factors your creature will depend on when trying to win at any location are Resistance, Health, and Damage. Resistance being the most important, Health and Damage being of equal importance.
We say resistance is most important because it will remove a dice from your opponent's creature's attack. This really only doesn’t have a huge effect if your opponent has equipped a Battle Runestone. Against those creatures you’ll almost always need an Aegis Stone equipped.

Unless you’re in a lobby full of “Whales” (people who spend lots of money in Warcodes), you’ll be able to win and feel good about each exchange. Battling, losing Locations, and knowing what creature you’re about to use based on your opponents creatures resistance is what the Top Players do while playing Warcodes. One of the best feelings is taking all 7 Locations for yourself and sharing a screenshot of it on reddit or the Warcodes Discord (https://discord.gg/warcodes) and anyone can do it. It really just depends on the time of day and who is currently active in your lobby.
For all the new players, it’s easy to feel like you’re behind the rest but trust us, everyone has been there before. The game isn’t a money grab, it's a time grab. The best way to win and be a top player is by spending time playing the game. The longer you play each day the more you’ll win. Understanding Star Codes and what the best items are will absolutely help you get those wins more often but they are not a defining factor in your ability to play and enjoy the game. Warcodes is very fair and has an amazing system for introducing new players to the KOTH gameplay.
